RLD-IM is an active, long-term manager which believes that the dynamics of financial markets depend on the economic outlook, on how it is interpreted by investors and that in the long run, they follow recurring cycles. The firm conducted a study that concluded that: the long view is the only relevant one; that asset performance is closely linked to inflation/deflation and to the stability of the countries concerned; that the globalization of markets is leading to their convergence, particularly in times of crisis and that in order to really control risk, it has to be spread across a number of asset classes. RLD-IM’s Strategy Committee meets regularly to match these findings to current developments and has established the following targets: 1) Portfolio performance must exceed inflation significantly in the long run; 2) Recessions and stock market meltdown consequences must be kept to a minimum by diversifying; 3) Investment portfolios should be built with a minimum 24-month horizon because a well-balanced portfolio should be able to not lose money during this timeframe, regardless of market conditions and that they 4) adapt tactical allocation grids to market opportunities in real time and systematically compare them to a benchmark-balanced portfolio.
