The Actuarial Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing math education and promoting actuarial careers by leveraging the expertise and resources of the actuarial community. The non-profit company is based in Schaumburg, IL. Its mission is to empower students, especially those in grades 5-12, with free math programs, resources, and scholarships that build confidence and real-world skills. Key initiatives include Math Motivators, a free tutoring program focusing on algebra and test prep; the STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program, offering scholarships, mentorship, and career exposure; and math competitions like the Modeling the Future Challenge and the Hardest Math Problem Contest. The foundation also provides personal finance curricula such as Building Your Future and digital math modules to foster financial literacy and creative problem-solving beyond rote memorization. Volunteers—including actuaries, educators, and corporate partners—play a vital role in tutoring, mentoring, judging, and program support. Supported by actuarial organizations since 2004, the foundation holds high transparency and charity ratings and encourages donations, including employer matching gifts, to sustain and expand its impact.
