Profil
Geordie received his BA degree, cum laude with departmental honors in history, from Union College in 1975.
Thereafter, he spent eighteen years in sales and marketing in the insurance industry, which enabled him to develop invaluable communication skills, while at the same time, affording him uncommon insights when it comes to the needs and wants of clients.
He has been drawing upon this experience since joining the firm in 1996.
Geordie’s outside activities range from the national to local level.
He is an enthusiastic supporter of The Fund for American Studies, having been appointed to its Board of Regents in 2009.
TFAS is an educational non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, whose stated goal is “to prepare young people for honorable leadership by educating them in the theory, practice and benefits of a free society.” It now counts over 10,000 alumni, and twelve institutes located across the globe, since its founding in 1967.
Geordie is a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and Society of Cincinnati.
His proudest association, though, is as a 7th generation member of the oldest men's social organization in this country, The Ancient South River Club—Geordie is a past chairman of the club and retains a warm spot for all things related to Southern Maryland.
His maternal grandfather, J.A.W.
Iglehart, hailed from that area and, among other things, went on to become the first principal owner and chairman of the board of the Baltimore Orioles.
Geordie's close relationship with his grandfather led to his community involvement as a charter member of the Orioles Designated Hitter organization, as well as serving as co-chairman of a Boys' Latin Capital Campaign to erect a building in Mr. Iglehart's memory.
He also is a past president of the Gilman Alumni Association and a former trustee of the school.
