Dmitry Vadimovich Bakatin

Mr. Dmitry Bakatin joined the Sputnik Group at its founding in 1998.
He leads the consulting arm of the Sputnik Group, which has advised Russia’s largest industrial-financial groups on mergers and acquisitions as well as on corporate disputes resolution.
Mr. Bakatin hasserved on boards of such public and private Russian companies as Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation, RosNeft-PurNefteGaz, Novorossiysk Shipping Company, Europe Plus radio station and others.
During the Sputnik Group’s tenure at Gazprom-Media.
Mr. Dmitry Bakatin as First Deputy General Director participated in the media group restructuring.
Prior to joining the Sputnik Group, he was a managing director of Renaissance Capital where he took active part in a wide range of direct investment projects.
Mr. Bakatin has a background in corporate law and worked as a senior lawyer at Washington-based law firm “Steptoe & Johnson” in 1991-1995.
He also served as an adjunct professor of law at Moscow State University.
Mr. Bakatin holds Candidate degree in law and Doctorate degree in economics.
He is the author of numerous monographs and scientific papers in the area of constitutional, investment law and state property management; he also participated in laws elaboration as an expert for the Russian government.
Mr. Bakatin has been a member of Russian-American Business Council executive committee since 2001 and Vice-president of Alexey Jordan Cadet Corps Fund since 2004.
