Brian Hanson

Brian Hanson joined Advanced Technology Ventures in 2001 as a Venture Partner, after fifteen years in investment banking.
Brian brings extensive experience in the communications industry to ATV, and plays an important role in identifying and evaluating new investments in communications and Internet Infrastructure.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Brian focuses on ATV’s strategic expansion in Canada, and also supports investment activity in New York and New Jersey.
Previously, Brian was Managing Director and Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at UBS Warburg LLC, where he specialized in the communications industry, working with the world’s leading telecom carriers and equipment companies.
During his tenure, Brian quintupled the size of the M&A group and managed the largest improvement in market share of any investment bank.
Brian was formerly an executive with Morgan Stanley, and was also one of the four founding officers who built Gleacher & Co. into a leading M&A advisory firm.
Brian holds an MBA from Stanford, where he graduated with Distinction as an Arjay Miller Scholar and a BA from the University of Western Ontario with Dean’s List Honors.
