Northleaf Capital Partners invests in buyouts, venture capital opportunities, mezzanine financings and special situations funds and makes direct co-investments with managers and leading private equity fund sponsors. Northleaf's investment process focuses on five key areas: (1) manager selection and access (2) balanced diversification (3) proactive deal structuring (4) fact-based due diligence and (5) value-added monitoring and reporting. The firm focuses on fund managers with demonstrated records of superior performance, including many difficult to access top-tier fund managers. They seek to diversify investments across investment types, geography, fund managers and vintage years. Northleaf employs a disciplined market research and deal sourcing process that covers each key dimension of their investment strategy. To evaluate investment opportunities, the firm combines the use of quantitative analysis and qualitative research. Northleaf invests globally with about 50% to 70% of their investments in North America, 25% to 40% in Europe and up to 15% in Asia and the rest of the world. Approximately 60% to 75% of their fund investments are in buyouts and special situations and 25% to 40% are in venture capital and growth opportunities. In general, 80% to 100% of the firm's investments are in funds and up to 20% are direct co-investments. About 70% to 100% of Northleaf's direct investments are primary investments with up to 20% in secondary investments.
