EQT is an active, value and contrarian-oriented manager which believes that the key to long-term wealth creation is to achieve attractive compounding rates of return above the cash rate while limiting major capital losses in difficult markets conditions through diversification across mainstream and alternative investments. The firm seeks opportunities across various assets, sectors, styles and strategies for their diversified Select Portfolios, investing in local and international fixed-income, real estate, equities, alternative investments and cash. They utilize specialized investment managers and selected listed investments to achieve their individual investment objectives. They operate within wide asset allocation ranges and are not constrained by strategic asset allocation benchmarks. EQT first determines the asset allocation by combining the outputs from scenario analysis, asset class valuations and forecasts and an assessment of the sentiment and momentum that markets currently exhibit. They then select the managers and investments that they believe will produce good risk adjusted returns and implement the investment ideas. They do not automatically rebalance to target weightings at fixed points in time but assess the outlook on an ongoing basis.
