Dong Tao

Dr. Dong Tao is Managing Director & Chief Regional Economist for non-Japan Asia at Credit Suisse (Hong Kong) Ltd. He leads the bank’s China macro-economic research and supervises regional macro-economic research coverage in non-Japan Asia.
Prior to joining Credit Suisse in February 1998, he was with Schroders Securities Asia as Senior Regional Economist and Head of China Research.
Dr. Tao and his team were early in identifying the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the economic overheating in China in 2004.
He has worked in China, the US and Japan, and has been based in Hong Kong since 1994.
Dr. Tao holds a PhD and MSc from University of Utah in the US and a BA from Beijing Foreign Language University.
