Haney, CFA, is a Senior Managing Director & Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Wellington Management Co. LLP.
He joined the firm in 2005 and serves as Chair of the Financial Reserves Management (FRM) Strategy Team and is responsible for setting aggregate risk levels and investment strategy for the approaches managed by the FRM team.
Mr. Haney is responsible for managing portfolios for clients with customized risk and return objectives often related to accounting and/or regulatory constraints, such as insurance clients, pensions and other financial institutions.
He also chairs the Municipal Bond Strategy Team, which is responsible for the development of the taxable and tax-exempt municipal bond strategies employed in Municipal Bond and Crossover portfolios, and also applied broadly across Wellington’s fixed income.
Prior to joining Wellington Management, Mr. Haney managed mutual funds at the Van Kampen Investments unit of Morgan Stanley from 1995 up to 2005.
During that time, he served as a Senior Member of the Portfolio Strategy team, focusing on derivative instruments, quantitative analysis, and yield curve strategy.
He also served on the Credit team, working closely with the firm’s analysts to coordinate credit research with portfolio strategy.
Prior to becoming a portfolio manager, he served as a buyer for Van Kampen’s unit trust product line from 1992 up to 1995 and as a Research Analyst focusing on the high yield and corporate-backed sectors from 1988 up to 1992.
Mr. Haney earned his Masters of Management with a concentration in Finance from Northwestern University Kellogg in 1995 and his BS in Business Administration and BA in French from Washington University in 1988.
He is a member of the Investment Analysts Society and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
