Murat Akuyev

Murat joined Runa Capital in 2023 as General Counsel in New York.
He leads the group’s legal function, providing advice on legal aspects of its activities, coordinating outside counsel, as well as advising portfolio companies on their legal issues.
Murat has more than 25 years of experience in the legal profession, including as a partner in a U.S.-based international law firm, leading projects in several world financial centers and receiving the highest rankings by international legal guides.
Throughout his career, Murat advised governments, corporations, financial institutions, wealthy individuals and athletes on a variety of matters, including capital raising transactions, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, public tender offers, debt restructurings, as well as litigations, arbitral disputes and investigations.
Murat was also an adjunct professor, teaching classes in the areas of his expertise, published articles and frequently spoke at professional forums.
Murat studied law and languages in several world cities.
He is a graduate of NYU School of Law and is a member of the bar in New York.
Murat loves listening to podcasts and audiobooks, is an avid fan of Formula 1, tennis and most recently American football.
