JPMIM seeks to generate positive excess return through both a bottom-up approach emphasizing security selection and a top-down approach focusing on macro investment themes and trends to aid in determining sector weightings, currency, and yield curve weighting where appropriate. The firm offers a broad range of US, non-US and global investment management products and provides different strategies that span the full spectrum of asset classes including equity, fixed-income, cash liquidity, currency, real estate, hedge funds and private equity.

UW Foundation raises, invests and distributes funds for the benefit of UW–Madison. Each year, the Foundation transfers gift and investment income to UW–Madison. These funds support campus priorities, including scholarships, building projects, research efforts, and the initiatives of specific schools, colleges, and programs.

WUIMC has developed a broad set of governance principles and processes to ensure the highest professional standards of investment management and oversight. To achieve its long-term rate of return objectives, the firm employs a total return strategy in which investment returns are achieved through both capital appreciation (realized and unrealized gains) and current yield (interest and dividends). A separate oversight board, the WUIMC Board of Directors, is responsible for investment policy and strategy, direction and evaluation of the CIO and investment staff in the implementation of investment strategies. The WUIMC Board has approval authority over the endowment’s investment policy, including investment return and risk objectives, the strategic asset allocation (targets and ranges) and new asset classes. The CIO and staff make recommendations to the WUIMC Board on investment policy matters, including strategic asset allocation.
