Hugo Ñopo

Dr. Hugo Ñopo is a Senior Economist at The World Bank.
He is on the Board of Directors at The Latin American & Caribbean Economic Association, Inc. In multilaterals, he has previously served as Regional Economist at the International Labor Organization and as Lead Education Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank.
He has also been a Senior Researcher at researcher at GRADE, in his native Peru.
There he has conducted studies for the ILO, IADB, OECD, UNESCO, UNDP, UNFPA, and the World Bank, among others.
During his days in the academia, he has been Assistant Professor at Middlebury College.
He holds a Ph.D.
in economics from Northwestern University, a M.Sc.
in mathematical economics from the Instituto de Matematica Pura e Aplicada, and two B.S.
degrees, one in engineering form the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria and one in mathematics from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru.
