UCM is a conservative, risk-averse investor. At the core of the firm's investment process is asset allocation, which is determined at the beginning of each quarter. Decision makers meet once a week to analyze the newest market trends and eventually make minor changes to the asset allocation strategy. The firm uses external databases to assist decision makers, who are also in direct contact with the companies and the portfolio managers of the funds in which they invest. They primarily invest in corporate and government bond funds, while they also invest in global equity funds.
