BM-T Beteiligungsmanagement Thüringen GmbH (BMT) is the investment arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thüringen Aufbaubank, which in turn is part of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale, also known as HELABA-Hessische Landesbank. HELABA is a regional bank in Länder Hessen and Thüringen, controlled but the Government of Germany. BMT was established in 2003 and is headquartered in Erfurt, the capital of Land Thüringen in central Germany. The firm invests on behalf of the German government, and is backed by Land Thüringen. They originally received capital from TBG-Technologie Beteiligungs GmbH as well. TBG is a Bonn-based private equity entity part of the government-controlled KfW Bankengruppe. BMT manages venture capital and private equity funds.
