Mr. Callahan is Founding Member with MCM.
Although retired, he advises the company on their current investments.
He retired in early 2000 as the Chairman of Swagelok formerly known as Crawford Fitting Company, a multinational manufacturer and world class supplier of specialty high pressure valves and fittings primarily used in the chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, offshore oil, refinery research, and semi-conductor industries.
Mr. Callahan began his career with Swagelok (which includes Nupro Co., Whitey Co., Cajon Co., and Kenmore Research Company) in 1958 as Managing Director of Kenmore Research Company.
He became Executive Vice President of Swagelok in 1959.
During his tenure, he successfully developed and received over twenty patents, which significantly expanded Swagelok’s product line and provided the stimulus for explosive growth.
In 1967, he was a participant in an investor group, which started and funded the Midwest Bank and Trust Company (Cleveland, Ohio).
Midwest Bank and Trust was sold to Provident Bank in 1982.
In 1979, he joined a group of investors, including Mr. Mixon, to acquire Invacare and remains an active member of the company's Board of Directors.
Mr. Callahan, along with Mr. Mixon, acquired a controlling interest in Royal Appliance Manufacturing in 1982.
He served on Royal’s Board of Directors until it went public in August, 1991.
Mr. Callahan graduated from the United States Naval Academy in June, 1945.
He subsequently received a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Callahan’s military record includes serving in the U.S.
Submarine Service from 1945 through 1958.
He retired in 1983 as Captain, U.S.
Naval Reserve.
