Deaton is a Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at Edge Capital Group LLC.
He joined the Edge Team as a Director and Portfolio Manager.
Mr. Deaton collaborates with the firm’s Senior Financial Advisors in determining the appropriate asset allocation, overseeing portfolios, generating investment recommendations, and communicating frequently with clients.
As a Certified Financial Planner professional, he is also intimately involved with the holistic financial planning process – from goal-setting to retirement planning to estate planning reviews.
Prior to joining Edge, he served as an Associate Advisor for two smaller independent firms and as a Portfolio Manager for Parsec Financial.
Mr. Deaton has spent the majority of his career in the financial services industry, with the initial portion of his post-MBA career in Equity Research as a Stock Analyst.
He then transitioned into wealth management in 2012, desiring to impact the lives of individuals and families by helping them achieve their long-term objectives.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from The College of William & Mary’s Mason School of Business.

David Deaton is currently the Vice President-Products at Digium, Inc. He previously worked as the Chief Executive Officer at Teracruz, Inc. and as the Director-Engineering at Nokia, Inc. from 2000 to 2002.
Prior to that, he was an Engineering Manager at ADTRAN, Inc. from 1991 to 1999.
Mr. Deaton completed his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University.
