London, UK, 6 February 2014 - Canon today announces the achievement of a new ground-breaking manufacturing milestone, with the combined production of film and digital EOS interchangeable-lens cameras passing 70 million units. The EOS series was first introduced in 1987 and this latest manufacturing milestone marks the fastest-ever production period in EOS history - surpassing the 70m-unit-mark just one year and four months after hitting 60 million units in October 2012.

Among the Canon cameras that contributed to this milestone in the past year were the EOS 70D, which features Canon's innovative Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, as well as the small and powerful EOS 100D, which combines an incredibly compact and lightweight body with extremely high performance.

Canon is committed to becoming a lifetime imaging partner for its customers and will continue to produce innovative products to empower photographers, no matter what their skill level, to capture and share their stories in the best possible image quality.
