Ltd., the firm was founded in 2000 as a joint venture between India's Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. and Standard Life Plc in Great Britain. HDFC Life-IP manages their parent firm's portfolio of investments.

Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (ABSLI) is an Indian life insurance firm which was founded in 2000 as a joint venture between the Aditya Birla Group and Sun Life Financial Inc., an international financial services organization in Canada.
