Ray Henger is an Operating Executive focused on Carlyle’s investments in renewable and sustainable energy.

Mr. Henger has spent his 25-year career in the energy industry most recently as the Chief Development Officer at sPower (2015 – 2021), where he oversaw a number of teams including development, permitting, real estate, origination and long term strategy.
Prior to serving as the Chief Development Officer, Mr. Henger created and grew the company’s Structured Finance group.
At his exit in March 2021, sPower had constructed more than 2 GW of solar, storage and wind assets and developed an 18 GW pipeline.
Prior to sPower, Mr. Henger led venture capital backed wind developer OwnEnergy, where he spent six years as the CFO during a time of rapid growth culminating in the l sale of OwnEnergy to EDF in 2015.
From inception to sale, OwnEnergy raised three rounds of venture capital building a pipeline that would result in more than 1GW of completed wind projects by EDF.
Prior to OwnEnergy, Mr. Henger was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse in investment banking with clients in the IPP, utility and renewable generation sectors.
Mr. Henger’s 14-year banking career included positions with Wasserstein Perella, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and Credit Suisse.
During his time as a banker Mr. Henger led the execution on more than $30 billion in capital deployed to finance and acquire energy projects.
Mr. Henger currently serves as the CEO of Copia Power, a Carlyle portfolio company.
He holds a B.A.
