Marga R. Wastalu

Dr. Wastalu joined Refocus Group in 2003 as director of clinical affairs.
A board-certified optometrist with more than a decade of clinical experience, she previously was clinical director, TLC Laser Eye Center of Milwaukee, from May 2000 where she performed pre- and post-operative patient care, was responsible for implementing clinical standards of care for the center, and developed the clinic's continuing education program for affiliate doctors and staff.
From 1998 to 2000, she held posts as clinical director and associate professor, University & Hospital Clinics, at Northeastern State University's College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Responsibilities included providing clinical instruction to residents rotating through the university's ophthalmic surgical service and serving as an instructor for several post-doctoral continuing education programs affiliated with the University.
She was also responsible for the Indian Health Service's hospital-based Eye Care Clinic in cooperation with the Cherokee Nation Health Care Program.
Prior to that, Dr. Wastalu was Lieutenant Commander of the U.S.
Public Health Service, where she also held the positions of Chief Optometry Clinician, Chief Of Eye Care Services, and Clinical Optometrist at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Indian Health Service, from 1992-98
