Beijing Qingyun Venture Capital Management Co. Ltd., formerly known as Tsinghua Venture Capital Management, is a cleantech venture capital management firm established in 2001 and located in Beijing. Beijing Qingyun Venture Capital Management Co. Ltd. is a subsidiary of Tsinghua Holdings Co. Ltd., which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tsinghua University in Beijing, a leading science, technology and engineering educational institution in China. A public institution, Tsinghua University is home to the State Key Laboratory: Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control and is renowned for energy and environmental research among other technology fields. Beijing Qingyun Venture Capital Management Co. Ltd. invests on behalf of Tsinghua Holdings, which is the university's investment arm and operates as an exclusive platform for science and technology development, research commercialization, startup incubation and international business cooperation. Beijing Qingyun Venture Capital Management Co. Ltd. has set up Cleantech China, a joint venture with the US-based cleantech startup specialist Cleantech Group LLC. The firm pioneered environmental awareness for financial returns in China. They manage a series of SRI funds, the China Environment Funds, registered in the Cayman Islands. Their investors include leading international financial institutions such as the Asia Development Bank and LESS Ltd., a strategic fund of funds investing in environmental projects in China and India.
