James Harwood

Mr. James Harwood is a Portfolio Manager at Russell Investment Management Ltd.
He focusing on the firm's directly managed Australian equity funds.
This includes Russell Investments' proprietary select holdings, tracker and exchange traded funds (ETFs).
He is responsible for all aspects of the portfolio management process including portfolio construction, portfolio turnover and continuous monitoring of the funds.
He joined the investment division in 2013.
He has extensive global industry experience having spent 10 years in funds management and 6 years in investment banking, before joining Russell Investments.
He has been involved in global equity trading since 1998 and has a passion for macro economics and how this drives equity markets.
He was Head of Trading at F&C Asset Management in London where he spent 7 years in senior portfolio management and trading positions.
He managed 2 UK equity index tracker funds for F&C that attained AAA ratings by S&P and has appeared on Bloomberg television to discuss index change trading strategies.
He also managed an enhanced index fund that utilised equity options to raise income, and to help manage downside protection.
He has vast derivatives experience having advised insurance clients on derivative hedging strategies.
This included both equity and fixed income derivatives as a result of a move towards liability driven investing (LDI).
He moved to Deutsche Bank in 2006 and was Head of UK Sales for db X-trackers, a multi-asset range of ETFs listed in Europe.
Deutsche Bank moved Mr. Harwood to Singapore in 2010 to cover Asian equity markets for South East Asia based clients.
He was then posted to Sydney in an Australian equity trading role where he advised global clients on equity trading strategies for the domestic market.
Before joining the firm, he gained his Authorised Representative status for AMP in 2013 after completing their Horizons Financial Planning Academy training programme.
