David E. DeMers

Prior to starting Black Mesa Capital in 2001, Dr. DeMers was Vice President of Business Development at the Prediction Company, a subsidiary of UBS, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
At Prediction Company, he also served as Managing Director of Trading, Portfolio Manager, and developed systematic trading models for US equities, bond, commodity and currency portfolios.
Previously, he had been an instructor in the Computer Science Department at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. DeMers received his Ph.D.
in Computer Sciences from University of California, San Diego in 1993.
His research covered many aspects of Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks and Robotics, with applications in such diverse areas as face and handwriting recognition, nonlinear time series analysis and robot kinematics.
He also has an MBA in finance from UCLA.
