Swiss Re IP is an active, long-term manager which utilizes a robust asset-liability management process to manage the portfolio of assets that Swiss Re generates through their core insurance and reinsurance businesses, aiming to minimize earnings volatility through prudent long-term investment. The firm employs a consistent top-down driven investment approach to allocate assets to internal portfolio managers or selected external asset managers. External managers are closely monitored and allocated specific portfolios within their defined mandate parameters. Internal managers focus primarily on government bonds, agency bonds, covered bonds and equity ETFs. Swiss Re IP operates within a clearly defined risk policy and risk control framework, aiming to ensure an appropriate risk-reward balance in the Group's risk taking activities.
