Dr. Anna Durnova is a Senior Fellow at Institut für Höhere Studien.
She is a public policy scholar and Elise Richter Research Fellow at the research group Insight Austria.
She researches the interplay of emotions and knowledge in politics using examples of health, science, and social policies.
This work's main interest is to understand better the current societal polarization, particularly the conditions of the legitimacy of expertise and how citizens engage with expertise in democratic societies.
Beyond her appointment at IHS, she coordinates a project at the Institute of Sociological Studies in Prague.
She is also a Faculty Fellow at the Yale Center for Cultural Sociology and Forum Editor of Critical Policy Studies (CPS).
She is also part of the Leadership collective of the Critical Policy Studies Group at the American Political Science Association, gathering critical scholars in public policy and political sociology.
Her work on the policy also includes several advisory activities and leadership functions: She is Chair of the Ethical Commission of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Director of the Institute of International Relations Board in Prague.
She is also a Member of the ELSI Common Service, the expert network of BBMRI-ERIC.
She was a visiting researcher at Concordia University in 2019, Visiting Professor at the Masaryk University Brno in 2012, and between 2009 and 2010 was a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Lyon.
She holds her habilitation diploma from the Sciences PO, Paris.
