The Scripps Research Institute is a private, non-profit research organizations that performs basic biomedical research in molecular & cellular biology, chemistry, immunology and neuroscience. They receive the majority of its funding from federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health. The organization also partners with pharmaceutical companies and is affiliated with the Scripps hospital group. The organization was founded in 1955 and is headquartered in La Jolla, California.
