Joao Garcia

Dr. Joao Garcia is a Managing Director of Quantitative Analytics Group at Fitch Ratings Ltd.
He is responsible for the quantitative financial research of the group as well as the management and development of its credit based products, which span areas such as credit risk, interest rate risk and market risk.
Prior to joining Fitch in October 2010, he spent eight years at Dexia Group working in their risk management and treasury divisions in a variety of positions, and latterly as Head of Credit Quant in Treasury and Financial Markets.
Dr. Garcia holds his Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Institute Technologic of Aeronautics (ITA-Brazil), a Masters degree from the Physics University Federal of Pernambuco (Brazil), and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics from Universiteit Antwerpen.
