Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) is the investment arm of Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of Finance. The Agency was established in 1983 by the Brunei Investment Agency Act to hold and manage the Government's General Reserve Fund, external assets and to provide them with money management services. Headquartered in Bandar Seri Begawan, BIA aims to increase the real value of Brunei's foreign reserves, built up from their crude oil and natural gas export earnings, by pursuing a diverse investment strategy with holdings in the US, Japan, Western Europe and ASEAN countries. The Agency's board of directors makes policy and administers the Agency's affairs and business.
