Álvaro Luis Gonçalves

Mr Alvaro Gonçalves is CEO and Founding Partner at Stratus Group.
He is President of ABVCAP (The Brazilian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association) and board member of CEPE (Private Equity & Venture Capital Studies Center at Fundação Getúlio Vargas) and LAVCA (Latin America Venture Capital Association).
Mr Gonçalves is Board Member of Darby-Stratus, Joint Venture with Darby Overseas.
He is also Board director at a number of companies in Brazil including - portfolio investments of Stratus VC Fund.
Mr Gonçalves is a Former founding partner of Pactual Electra Capital Partners, joint-venture between Banco Pactual (Brazil) and Electra Partners (England) were worked in the implementation of the Pactual Electra International private equity fund in partnership with American and European investors.
He was CEO of Indústria de Chocolates Lacta where he was in charge of the companys' turnaround and the sale of its controlling shares to Kfraf/Philip Morris in 1996.
As a corporate executive he has also worked in some leading Brazilian companies, namely Pão Americano S/A (CFO), Melhoramentos Pápéis/Kimberly Clark do Brasil (CFO) AND Duratex S/A, where he started his professional career.
He is an Industrial Engineer from Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial (São Paulo), specialization in Business Administration from EAESP - Fundação Getúlio Vargas (São Paulo).
Mr Gonçalves holds MBA from IMD-International (Lausanne, Switzerland).
