Eric Emerson Schmidt (* 27. April 1955 in Washington, D.C.) ist ein US-amerikanischer Informatiker und Manager, seit April 2011 Executive Chairman (davor Chief Executive Officer) von Google und gehört seit 2009 zum Beraterteam des US-Präsidenten Barack Obama in Technologiefragen. Weiterhin lehrt er an der Stanford University.
Zwischen 1983 und 1997 arbeitete Schmidt bei Sun Microsystems, wo er unter anderem die Funktion des CTOs ausführte, war zwischen 1997 und 2001 CEO bei Novell und von 2006 bis 2009 Mitglied des Board of Directors bei Apple.
