Nthisana Philips

Ms. Nthisana Philips is Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Botswana Insurance Fund Management Ltd.
She has extensive experience in financial management and financial services.
She started her career, in 1993, as an Assistant Bank Examiner at Bank of Botswana.
She then took up a position with Stockbrokers Botswana, where she spent two years.
She sat for recruitment examinations given by the United Nation and was the first Botswana citizen to be selected through this international recruitment drive.
She joined United Nations Headquarters (NY) in 1996.
Her first position was Associate Finance Officer in the Technical Cooperation Accounts Section of the United Nations Headquarters.
In 1999, she was promoted to the position of Accountant.
In 2002, she moved to Addis Ababa to hold fort as Chief of Accounts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
After more than seven years with the United Nations, she felt the urge to return to Botswana.
She joined Barclays Bank Botswana as the Head of Project Management.
In 2004, she joined an asset management company in Botswana as its inaugural Managing Director.
In 2007, she was appointed as Bifm’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Her academic qualifications include a B Comm.
from University of Botswana, an Associate Diploma in Banking (Botswana Institute of Bankers) and an MBA, obtained from City University of New York.
