Alan Vartelas

Mr. Vartelas is a Managing Director of the Private Equity Group of Aetna, Inc. The Private Equity Group manages a portfolio of $650 million in direct private equity and fund investments for Aetna.
The primary focus of the Private Equity portfolio is middle-market buyout and expansion capital in the United States, with a secondary emphasis in Argentina and Brazil.
Prior to the formation of the Private Equity Group in 1993, Mr. Vartelas held various positions within the investment group, turning around management woes, originating private placement investments in a variety of industry sectors from 1989-1992, and restructuring and solving bankruptcy issues from 1985-1988.
Mr. Vartelas joined Aetna's Investment Management Group in 1985.
He is also on the Advisory Board for Falconhead Capital.
Mr. Vartelas received a BS from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
