Michael L'Estrange

Michael Gerard L'Estrange is currently the Director & Deputy Chancellor at The University of Notre Dame Australia since 2017.
He is also serving as the Deputy Chancellor at the University of Notre Dame since 2017.
Previously, he held positions as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Rio Tinto Plc from 2014 to 2021, at Rio Tinto Ltd.
from 2014 to 2021, and at Qantas Airways Ltd.
from 2016 to 2023.
He was also the Secretary at Australia Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade from 2005 to 2009 and the Head of the National Security College from 2009 to 2015.
Additionally, he has served as the Executive Director at Menzies Research Centre.
Mr. L'Estrange holds a graduate degree from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree from the University of Sydney, which he received in 1974.
