Adam L. Berger

Adam Berger is an Operating Partner at WindRose Health Investors, focusing on artificial intelligence.
Prior to WindRose, he led technology at Amazon for a healthcare delivery service, Amazon Care, that served patients in all 50 states.
Before that, Mr. Berger was CTO at UPMC Enterprises, where he and his team helped launch new ventures in domains such as clinical decision support, quality analytics, telemedicine, and clinical trial administration.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Berger founded two venture-backed startups, Eizel and Penthera, where he served as CTO.
As a computer scientist, Mr. Berger has presented at international conferences in machine learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval.
He has received 25-year test of time awards from both SIGIR and ACL.
Early in his career, he worked at IBM Research, where he helped develop the world’s first statistical machine translation system.
He holds over 20 issued US patents.
Mr. Berger received his PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University and his BA in physics from Harvard.
