Presently, Robert E. Sanchez occupies the position of Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Ryder System, Inc. and Chairman of United Way of Miami-Dade, Inc. Mr. Sanchez is also Chairman of Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara and Member of Wharton Alumni Association and on the board of 7 other companies.

He previously held the position of Applications Engineer at Florida Power & Light Co., President-Global Fleet Management Solutions at Ryder Truck Rental, Inc. and Controls Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co.

He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
