Melanie Whelan founded Project 1972, Inc. Currently, Ms. Whelan holds the position of Managing Director at Summit Partners LP and Founding Member at Project 1972, Inc. Ms. Whelan is also on the board of Chegg, Inc. and Hair Ventures LLC.

In her past career she occupied the position of Chief Executive Officer at Soulcycle, Inc. and Vice President-Business Development at The Equinox.

Ms. Whelan received an undergraduate degree from Brown University.
