Dr. Lechleiter previously was Chairman of The U.S.-Japan Business Council, Inc., Non-Executive Chairman for Eli Lilly & Co., Director-Pharmaceutical Product Development at Lilly Research Centre Ltd., Chairman-Worldwide at United Way Worldwide, President of International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Director at The Life Sciences Foundation.

He received an undergraduate degree from Xavier University and a graduate degree and a doctorate from Harvard University.
