In her past career she occupied the position of Member-Management Board at Fondazione Organismo Italiano di Contabilità, Head-Internal Audit at UniCredit SpA and Manager-Administration at UniCredito Italiano SpA (Old) (a subsidiary of UniCredit SpA) and Partner at Arthur Andersen SpA.

Elisabetta Magistretti received an undergraduate degree from the University of Bocconi.
